Company History

30 years ago in 1980, I was working in a factory setting up high-speed rewind machines when a layoff occurred. A longtime friend of mine had just started his own flooring company and asked if I would like to come aboard. Since I was very good working with my hands and did a lot of construction work with my father on our own home, I accepted and worked there the first few years. I learned quite a bit about installing hardwood and tile at that time. I had the privilege of installing the herring bone hardwood floors and the slate, marble work at Walter Payton's house. Shortly after working at Walter's house, I had a falling out with the owner of that company and proceeded to start Solid Flooring Co. (1984). Since the start of SFC. I have worked in many prestigious homes. Custom boarders/inlays/medallions etc. are not a problem for us, both in hardwood & tile/stone.
